Book of the moment: The Practice of System and Network Administration
I'd heard about this book coming out a few months ago and was really psyched about what I heard of it. It just arrived at the bookstore today and I leafed through it and decided to pick up a copy for me and ones for my two sysadmins. So far, this book seems like a great 'how to be a sysadmin' manual from the more general side of things. There are tons of books on system administration for every OS out there, but this covers that area of "but why do I do it that way?" or "what do other people do?". I'll post a more complete review of the book when I finish reading/skimming through it (including the index it is over 750 pages long!)
