Random holiday season thoughts
While a lot of this holiday was kind of emotionally exhausting there were some parts of it that were quite cool. One of the first was my godparents stopping over at my parent's place. Their son and his wife also came along. I hadn't seen any of them for years. Their son Christopher and I are right around the same age and we always used to have fun around the holidays when our families would visit.
He's now married with two kids and the kids were along for the visit too. I really love 2-4 year olds, they are so cute. One of their daughters is 3 and a half and finally decided that I was a worthy person to talk to after being very shy on first arrival. By the time they left I'd been invited over for tea with her and her doll (though I wouldn't be able to try on her shoes because they'd be too small). It makes me wish I got to see my nephew Cameron more often.
On other fronts, it sounds like Cameron loved the alphabet blocks I gave him. My sister asked him if he wanted her to open them up right away and he was like, "well of course!" We'll have him spelling in no time! (I fear I'd be too impatient as a father. I'd want my kids to grow up fast so I could get the fun toys that *I* want.)
Next year I hope that my sister can make it up to CT with Cameron. I think that Christmas when there are kids around is great. He'll be three and a half then and that's one of the perfect ages. Everything is still magic then. And I think they help bring magic to everyone else involved.
