Another interesting post from The Shifted Librarian. In the second part she talks an article in Wired that talks about people using messaging on their mobile phones for telling people where parties are.
The Wired article is actually even a bit behind the times. It mentions people calling 800#s to find out where raves were. But even going back four years kids ago were using text pagers to let people know about parties. A friend of mine was telling me of how they'd have a couple of kids just typing in the same message over and over again to send out party directions to people from their pagers (and back then the interfaces weren't anywhere close to as nice as they are now). I would imagine they are still doing it now, but with an even nicer interface.
