Well, word is that Cartoon Network has pulled Cowboy Bebop for at least the next three weeks. No reason has been given yet, though speculation is that it is because of the WTC.

Time for a bit of
Time for a bit of silliness.
I used to love going to the Japanese supermarket when I lived in San Diego. One of the great things to do while shopping was to read some of the labels on products because they’d use english in quite odd ways. In honor of those days, I give you Engrish.com -
My parents have always kept
My parents have always kept their house a bit on the cool side in the winter. The rule has always been: “If you’re cold, put on a sweater”. Well, currently it is WAY too cold in here. I’m sitting on the computer being all bundled up and I just felt my hands and they are FREEZING.

I’ve been down at my
I’ve been down at my parents a bit this weekend (and am on from there now actually) helping them get online with their new PowerMac G4. It’s a pretty slick machine, faster then any of the Macs that I have.
My mom has a dialup account through Wesleyan University, and I have to say that I’ve found their dialin setup to be pretty annoying. First off, you have to be able to script all the connection stuff, since it doesn’t seem to allow you to use other forms of authentication. This has proven to be a bit of a pain, since OS X doesn’t seem to have support for scripting a login connection. (Has anyone run into anything for this? I was thinking I might be able to do something with Applescript, but I really don’t know enough about it).
The other annoying thing I’ve noticed about wesleyan is that their modems only seem to be 33.6. As a result, when I’m doing things I dial right into AT&T/Mediaone and access things that way, since they have 56K modems. My big goal now is to convince my parents to let me get them cable modem service for 6 months to a year to see how they like it. It would definitely make coming down to visit them a bit more bearable :). -
I’ve been wanting to do
I’ve been wanting to do SOMETHING since Tuesday. Given all the meds I’m on, I can’t give blood. So I made a donation via Paypal. As of the time I did it, they had 22,381 members donate $798,098.

This has been such a surreal week. I have friends who have been glued to the television or radio since Tuesday. I just can’t do it. I can listen or watch for a bit, but then I need to turn it off and breath.
Zannah had a link to a beautiful set of pictures over at arstechnica. I found them to be quite powerful.

More proof that people on
More proof that people on the net have too much time on their hands. 404 Research Lab catalogs interesting, cool, and funny 404 messages. (And even has instructions on how to get IE to show them, since MS seems to think you like their error page instead).

DivX 😉 and Mac OS
DivX 😉 and Mac OS X
According to curry.com there is going to be a library released that will let you watch DivX movies under quicktime. I want! I want! Adam, if you’re reading, is there a link to a web site for this? Yet one more step away from my PC I can take.

The last few weeks I’ve
The last few weeks I’ve been i a rut. I have not been able to spin records at all. I would start practicing and after two records just get frustrated and stop. It was like I’d lost whatever creative spark everything seems to come from when I’m spinning. There’s this kind of magical moment where the right record just comes to you as you need it and everything flows. I got that back tonight. I’m not quite sure where it came from. If it was just exhaustion letting me finally relax or what. It is nice to know I can get to that space without needed any extra help.
Could there be a new mix after the weekend? I’d like to think there is a good chance of it.

Whew, after not getting to
Whew, after not getting to sleep at a reasonable hour last night I was hurting all day. Work was somewhat hellish because of it, and just because of having to deal with people in general. On the plus side I’m once again sitting out on my doorstep while typing this. I needed to get out of my apartment because I live in this building that just seems to be an oven. If it is hot out during the day, the building seems to hold in that heat till late at night. It’s tempting to run the a/c for a bit to cool it off.
The best part of sitting out on my doorstep is watching people walk by. Or of meeting people in my apartment that I haven’t met yet. Since I’ve only meet a small portion of people in the building. It’s also a nice way to pass the time while waiting for the pizza guy to deliver my pizza.
