Icey Rain Blues
The drive home tonight sucked. Even when the roads were in decent condition people were driving way too slow.
On the plus side I got a steak tip sub on the way home and now it’s just waiting for me to consume it. MMMMMM Meat.

Blog Awards
I’m fairly uncertain what I think of a lot of these different blog awards things that have been going on. Most recently is the 2002 Bloggies. Some random thoughts about this one:
In general I thought they were okay (though I thought life uncommon should have won its category). In some cases I feel like it had the same problem that many of these awards do, they tend to end up focused on some random subsets of all the blogs I read (though this gets into another topic about weblogs that I’ll write about later).
Windows Sucks
Once again at work windows decides to do something lame. Somehow when my cow orker copied a file from one system to another, it forgot who owned it. So when someone else tried to access it, they couldn’t. What a pain.

Let me direct your attention to the burgeoning “Slow Food” movement (www.slowfood.com). Created as an antidote to the global blight known as fast food (read Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of The All-American Meal by Eric Schlosser), this alliance promotes the conviviality that blooms when we take time and care with the rituals surrounding food. A snail figures prominently in the Slow Food logo. I recommend you adopt this creature as your mascot for the next few weeks. May it inspire you to be luxurious and unhurried and devoted to the art of living with good taste. Can I also convince you to try Slow Sleep, Slow Perception, and Slow Love? The stars recommend it.

First full day of Radio
In my first full day of being a Radio Userland user I managed to end up in the low 30s as far as number of hits my site got. This is one of the side features of being a Radio user. They track referers and number of pageviews you have for you. Maybe someday I’ll get up to number one.

Stupid People Rant
I just got in from taking care of getting my parking permit and I’ve decided that almost everyone else waiting in line with me was an idiot. When you walk into the parking office there is a big huge sign that reads:
The following are required for a parking permit: (1) Your car registration, (2) A utility bill addressed to you and postmarked within the last 30 days or two pieces of mail to you postmarked within the last 30 days. NO EXCEPTIONS
Despite those signs I watched all but one of the seven people in front of me walk up with inadequate identification and then complain when they wouldn’t take it. Why am I annoyed with this? Because I was waiting in line behind 7 people for around half and hour. When it was time for my turn, I gave the guy my registration and my electric bill and was done in under 3 minutes. No problems at all. People suck (and most of their excuses for not having what was required were lame).
Learning Japanese
Zannah has a cool link to a site for all you anime lovers out there. The Japanese for Anime Lovers page has lessons in learning Japanese for those of you who are curious about what is really being said while you are reading those subtitles.
Car Tasks
So I need to skoot out of work a bit early today to go to the RMV to reregister my car (I paid off all my old parking tickets). Then I need to go to the Cambridge Parking Office and get my new parking permit for the year so I don’t get a parking ticket later this week.
If I ever move from Cambridge I’ll miss having that parking sticker. It is so handy because it lets me park in resident parking anywhere in Cambridge.
