So I was looking up my name on this site and got the following results:

So my parents came up today and we went to the Apple store in up here. We were going to go up to New Hampshire so that they could get it with no tax, but the store up there didn’t have what we wanted in stock. In the end I think going to the Apple store was the best thing to do. It ment that my mom got to actually watch a demonstration of some video editing using iMovie. This was the big thing she’s been wanting to do for ages. The sales people were pretty good, didn’t try and oversell us on anything. They got the lower-end PowerMac G4, which I think will be more then enough for them, though I think we should upgrade the computer with a bit more memory then what it is in it.
I also (finally) got myself a printer and picked up a low end scanner that I can’t wait to start playing with.

Growing up, one of my favorite toys were Legos. I’ve wanted to pick up mindstorms forever, and now here’s something cool that was done with them. Damn I want to get the new set when it comes out.

I made a small tweak to my template for this blog this morning. I added in the nickname of the person who makes the post (usually me). The reason for this is that I’ve added my friend Emily as an author for this blog. When I go into the hospital she’s going to handle posting updates on my health to here. That way I can keep people updated as to what is going on (since I won’t be able to do it myself right away).

So I ran into my pet peeve again this morning. School is back so that means that the crossing guards are back. There is one in particular on my way into work who annoys me to no end. She waits until the light turns green, and THEN walks out in front of traffic to stop it and let people across. It’s so annoying because she backs up traffic doing it. What makes it even more insane is that there’s a walk/don’t walk light there too! I can see her being there to make sure kids cross the roads safely, but what kind of example are you setting by having them cross when it says don’t walk? BAH.

So I was browsing through blogs this afternoon and ran into someone talking about why people blog. So I started thinking of why I blog. I started it a while ago on and off. First just updating my page by hand. I first did it just to kind of keep track of updates on my site, then I found myself wanting to write more. In the end though, a few things really pushed me towards posting regularly.
The first was my health and keeping people up to date with what was going on with it. It seemed an easy way to be able to post things someplace where anyone who wanted to could get up to date information. It also became a way for me to vent about some of my feelings about the whole thing. If people wanted to read, they could. It wasn’t anything I wouldn’t tell anyone face to face.
The second thing that inspired me to post more was finding Blogger. I had been updating my site on and off by hand, but it was a pain in the ass. I’d have to play around with HTML all the time and would end up spending more time getting that right then thinking about what to write. Using Blogger just made it all so easy.
And finally, I ran into some really cool blog sites out there. Zannah’s were some of the first ones that made me think about posting things more often. It also became an easy way to share things like links to interesting sites with friends. In the past I’d just fire off a ton of IMs to people with a URL. Now I can just post it and they’ll see it. The ultimate lazy person’s tool.
So that’s it. Some of the reasons why I blog. (Oh yeah, it’s the ‘cool’ thing to do too! :))

So since I’ve been watching a lot of anime lately I’ve been thinking I might want to learn Japanese. But, after reading this I may have to rethink that. 😉

I still think WiFi is one of the worst names ever thought up. What does it stand for? I can guess Wi is Wireless. But what is Fi? Fidelity? Fido? Fiction? Don’t you just love it when people make up silly names for things.

Just a reminder for folks that Adult Swim is on tonight. The shows I recommend the most out of it are The Brack Show, Harvy Birdman, Sealab, and Cowboy Bebop. Space Ghost Coast to Coast rules too. I wasn’t really that thrilled with Home Movies (though the Kafka rock opera was pretty funny). Anyways, it’s on at 10, set your TiVo/VCR.
