    Some new pics
I’ve been taking some more pictures here and there. I do carry my camera around a lot these days, but usually forget that I have it. I’ve also been thinking a bit more about how to manage the photos on my site. I really like how Dawn of journal of a.lifeuncommon.org does her lomolog. Last time I mentioned wanting to find some way to present them online I got some great suggestions, but none of them quite fit what I am trying to do. The Lomolog comes close though.

[My New Desk][My local sushi joint]

We moved to the other side of the building this week and I got to go back to my old desk. Here it is before it starts to get insanely cluttered. I also snapped a picture of my local sushi place. Well, one of many local sushi places, but this is the one that is very close to my house (and that has a very yummy spicy scallop roll). I seem to stop in here around once every other week these days.

  • One thing that I’m finding

One thing that I’m finding about Radio is that there is a fair amount of stuff written on it, but little in the way of documentation on how the whole thing is put together.  This is why you get a number of posts from me talking about testing out templates and things like that.

I feel like a lot of my time is spent doing things by trial and error.  Which is cool because I learn neat things, but it makes a lot of things a major task to do.

  • I received a great pointer

I received a great pointer to a discussion on categories and Radio.  This is the kind of thing I actually would have loved to have seen Radio address from the start.  Stories kind of address this, but I want something that more follows the whole weblog concept, just one I can post things into that is ‘private’.

So hopefully this weekend I’ll have some time to play with all this.

    Penguin Madness
I know at least one reader will enjoy this. My friend Emily talks of penguina, goddess of the snows. It was just what I needed to read first thing this morning.

    Thoughts on work blogging
For the past month or so I’ve had a blog running at work. One cool feature of Blogger (and one reason I’ll always use it, even if I use other software for my primary blog) is the concept of a group blog. As far as I can tell, blogger is really the only system that supports this. Actually, Live Journal does too, but I don’t think that works as well for me since I can’t have the blog only be visible from within work that easily.

I’ve been thinking about ways to make this blog even more useful. The purpose of it is to provide a way for the sysadmin group to document things they are working on, tips and tricks they’ve come up with, important notes on things they do that may effect others, etc. People read it every day. One idea that’s been in my head lately is integrating the help desk system I wrote into the whole equation. I could have a checkbox that would have any comments added to a ticket also post those comments to the blog. This way we also can submit ticket information we want to record directly from the interface we are in already (instead of having to remember to open up blogger afterwards).

At one point I thought about setting up a few different blogs for this purpose, but I think I only really need one. That also means the whole thing can be just crawled by our internal search engine daily and updated.

    Mouse Update
Well, I think the mouse may be gone, but I figured out what it was so keen on getting. While cleaning last night I discovered a small empty bag of reece’s pieces that had been shreded open. I think someone found a nice little snack that was in the bottom of some bag. Late night munchies for the mouse!

Luckily they are all gone, so hopefully this guy won’t come and visit anymore.

    *SIGHS*

It is still broken. This sucks. I know the folks are working on fixing this, but it is still very frustrating to want to play with this new tool and not be able to.

    Daily post from home test.

I figure I should give this a try regularly. I also added the radio updates RSS feed to my news feeds so I can see what changes are being made.
