    Between Sleeping and Waking

I distinctly remember my clock going off early this morning. And I distinctly remember reaching over. But the clock i was turning off wasn’t the clock I have. As a result I turned the alarm off instead of hitting snooze. I tossed and turned for a bit and suddenly woke with a start as I realized I’d actually turned the clock off. Luckily, only a half hour had gone by.

My goal for lunch today is to find a new alarm clock. The big requirement is that the alarm reset button isn’t next to the sleep button. This is one of the big design flaws with my clock.

    Boogiepop

I just got done watching the last disc of Boogiepop Phantom and I must say that this series ranks high on my list. It falls into that same category as shows like Lain. Though this one has a darker feel. Parts of it almost feel like a horror series, but I wouldn’t call it horror. Maybe just ‘weird shit’.

Definitely one to check out if you are in the mood for something different.

It’s weird when you fall asleep and it is light out, and then wake up and it is almost dark out.

    Speaking of Cartoons

Christine had a similar experience to me when looking for DVDs of classic Chuck Jones cartoons. I looked around for a while and while there were a lot of cartoon compilations out there they had very uninformative names like Cartoon Crazys. The reviews of these are fairly mediocre, mentioning things like missing openings and endings for cartoons. It really is a shame that there aren’t any well done collections out there. I can think of a number of people who would pay decent money for a complete Chuck Jones collection. Though I could imagine getting licensing for such a thing might be a nightmare.

On the other hand, Disney has done some amazing things with some of their classic toons. I especially like the look of the Silly Symphonies one. I may actually pick up two copies of this so I can send one down to my sister for my nephew when she gets a DVD player. Anyone at Warner Bros paying attention?

Christine was also nice enough to include a link to a petition to Warner Brothers to release Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies on DVD:

    Nothing like a warm apartment

I just got in from hanging out at the pool/bowling place in Davis Square. It was nice to get out for a bit, even if it was too smoky there for my liking. I got to see my friend Patty, who I just don’t get to see often enough, along with Lukas, Genevieve, and a few other folks. I also stopped at the used CD shop and got a whole bunch of old CDs that I’m now sucking into iTunes.

    Unmotivated

I feel like I shouldn’t be hanging out around home right now, but I am so unmotivated. It’s a nice day out and I just took a real short nap, only waking because my pager went off. I think I might be joining some friends of mine to play some pool later. It would be a good way to get out for a bit, and I was kind of wanting to browse around Davis Square a little anyways. I always see neat looking places when I’m out for brunch, but I’m never there when things are open.
