    Netflix update

The movie returned to netflix on Tuesday arrived on Wednesday at netflix. I got the email around 2pm.  Then last night at 10pm or so I got the email that my next movie had been shipped.  So I’m wondering if it just took a while for the email to get to me or if I’ll have it today.  I bet I’ll have it tomorrow at the latest.  This is a VAST improvement.  Because the movie returned to the west coast didn’t even arrive there yet.

    Question about digiblog images

When people click on them, do they get the full sized image?  I’ve had at least one report of it not working, yet can’t see anything wrong.  Thanks!

(If you do have problems viewing images, can you let me know what browser you are using?)

    Onion Goodness

Once again the onion has a brilliant infograph. I’ll think I’ll be WSTS in the corner.

    Buy this book!

Northern Gothic is a book by Nick Mamatas, one of the DinoMUSH crew.  Wednesday morning his book was ranked 888,350 on Amazon.  When I just ordered my copy a few minutes ago it was at around 4,128.  Woohoo!  If you’re looking for something good to read, it’s fairly inexpensive.  At least I’m assuming it’s good. I’ve heard good reviews of it.

    Broken the Barrier

As of yesterday I’ve broken the barrier.  I’m part of the top 100 Radio Userland sites read since 10/7/01.  Okay, I’ll admit it, I get a little bit of an ego boost from things like this.  I actually think it is pretty cool that people come to this site to read my inane ramblings.

    More Radio Goodness

I wrote my own comment system that I’m quite happy with, so this doesn’t quite effect me. But the cool folks at Userland have updated Radio so that you can now have comments attached to posts. It’s actually not that bad a setup. I don’t think it is quite as full featured as some of the comment systems out there (It doesn’t seem to show how many comments there are), but this is a good first step.

While in some cases just linking to someone’s article in your own blog and commenting on it can give some response, it doesn’t create as much of a sense of community. You may have some interesting little tidbit of information to add to someone’s post. Maybe you can correct some faulty information. Definitely a cool move!

    Augh, it happened again!

Are people that clueless? Are there people who there who just don’t get enough spam to realize how annoying it is? Or do they for some reason think their mail must not be spam? Yet another person has gone and farmed through the Friday Five posts and snarfed down all the addresses. She then mailed out everyone telling them to come take her test. It sucks. It’s one thing to mail to all your friends, it’s another to go and find out who your neighbors friends are and start mailing them to.

The thing I wonder is do these people understand what they are doing? Do they understand just how annoying it is to get yet more spam. Is this just some need to try and have a popular site? Personally, the sites that I love the most are the ones I just stumble upon (/usr/bin/girl and a life uncommon come to mind immeadiately). Is this going to start becoming a trend? I hope not

Maybe Adam is right about email after all.

    SCORPIO (Oct 23-Nov 21) – Week of February 21, 2002

Here’s a bit of wisdom I gained through hard experience last summer: When you go to a county fair, never play the throw-darts-at-balloons game and win a giant stuffed dragon at the beginning of your visit, because then you’ll have to carry the bulky thing around with you the rest of the day. This teaching can serve as a valuable metaphor for you in the coming weeks, Scorpio. You’re entering a phase when fun will continually flood in your direction, and it doesn’t make sense to weigh yourself down with the first questionable “treasure” that comes along. Enjoy the minor thrills that arrive in the next few days, but don’t pledge your undying devotion to them.
