Death by videogame

A woman in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is suing Nintendo for “unspecified damages” after her 30-year old son died during a marathon session on his N64. I’m sorry. I just find this just plain silly. I’ve had various consoles for years and I remember warnings about seizures going back to the Sega Genesis. It isn’t like this is any new news. I really wish things like this would just get thrown right out of the courts.

SCORPIO (Oct 23-Nov 21) –

SCORPIO (Oct 23-Nov 21)Week of February 28, 2002

I’m always delighted, Scorpio, when you “let your love be like misty rain, coming softly but flooding the river” — as the Madagascan proverb says. Of course, I’m also enchanted when you invoke the harder-edged romantic ethic summed up by outlaw writer William S. Burroughs: “If I had my way we’d sleep every night all wrapped around each other like rattlesnakes.” According to my reading of the astrological omens, both these approaches to amour will be in full bloom during the coming weeks, as well as others you’re not so familiar with. May you mix and match them with the skill of a master alchemist.

Jive Talkin’

I had BBCA on this morning when I woke up, watching the news. I kept the TV as I was getting ready for work, and suddenly, the BeeGees were performing on my TV. Yikes!

Amazon goodnessI got a great

Amazon goodness

I got a great order from Amazon in today. I finally got a copy of High and Low on DVD and a copy of Nick Mamatas’ Northern Gothic. High and Low is an amazing film by Kurosawa, I rented it a while ago from netflix because it was a suggestion from them and really enjoyed it. So I finally got around to getting my own copy of it. I’ll write up a small review of Northern Gothic when I finish it in a few days (Though it will have to wait till after I finish The Anubis Gates).

Displaying HTML

I haven’t tried this tool yet, but I just found this neat thing called sHTMLc. It is a small little win32 program for converting raw HTML into something that can display that HTML (It does things like convert < to <). I wish I’d found this a few months ago when I was writing some documentation that included HTML in it.
